Insect Lore Live Butterfly Garden Review
We purchased this for my five-year-old's birthday, and I am so glad we did. The larvae came fast, and all five became butterflies! My daughter slept with them next to her through each stage, and even my almost-two-year-old enjoyed watching them and feeding the butterflies. We released them by our flower garden, and they stuck around. This kit is really low-maintenance, and you can get more larvae over and over. The larvae come with the food, so you don't have to worry about it. Make sure you open the package and order the larvae ahead of time if it is a gift.

Insect Lore Live Butterfly Garden Specifications
Did you know that painted ladies (the butterflies, that is) taste with their feet and have 10,000 eyes? You and your kids will be fascinated by all you learn about these beautiful creatures with the Butterfly Garden from Insect Lore. The kit comes with a relatively easy-to-assemble observation chamber; supplies for feeding the butterflies (you provide only sugar and water); an informative booklet of clear instructions and butterfly facts; and a certificate for three to five free painted lady caterpillars. The metamorphosis from larva to butterfly takes about three weeks from when you receive the caterpillar larvae (which arrive in a small container with all the nutrients they need). Your children can watch the larvae increase dramatically in size, form chrysalides, and finally emerge into full-fledged painted ladies (it's suggested that they release the butterflies after a few days of observation). This would make a wonderful activity for families with kids of any age, but younger children will need help assembling the observation chamber and reading the instruction booklet. (Note: The manufacturer recommends that butterflies should not be set free in temperatures lower than 55 degrees Fahrenheit.) --Rachel Radway

Fantastic Gift for Kids! - Steven Gargolinski - Boston
This Butterfly Garden is the perfect gift for children: potentially educational, fun, easy to take care of, and also interesting for any adults around. I've bought a few of these for younger relatives, and the reviews have always come back positive! This is a FANTSTIC birthday/Christmas/etc. gift if you have young kids to buy a present for.
You get what's advertised. - Ms. Tammy J. Dudash -
My daughter enjoyed this toy. The net can be used again so you only have to buy the caterpillars.
Great learning - MaMaDoppler -
I think my husband and I were just as excited as my daughter to check on our caterpillars every morning! The chrysallis stage kind of bored my daughter after a week but she is 3 so thast's a given. GREAT product that I would highly recommend.
